Avoiding Mergers
This picture has many mergers in it.The blue car is behind the ambulance, the ambulance is behind the bicycle and the soldier is in front of the blue car.Not one thing is complete in this photo. It makes us(the viewer) not able to focus on anything.
Framing
I chose this photo for framing because the window is framing the American flag and the destroyed building. The window is also broken which adds to the effect.
Balance
This photographer made sure that nothing got more attention than the next thing. Both firemen are at about the center of the picture and they are both looking in the same direction. This creates the image on how everybody worked together that day/week.
Lines
These huge New York City buildings are very tall and wide so they have a lot of stories. All these lines in all the building including the one that is destroyed get your attention and make you think about how easily these buildings can get destroyed.
The Rule Of Thirds
In this photo the photographer used rule of thirds so that right when you look at this picture all of your attention goes to the car being thrown in the metal crate because it was destroyed. The yellow crate also can get your attention which leads your eyes up to the car.
Simplicity
I chose this photo for simplicity because it shows an American flag which can be seen almost anywhere here in the United States. Any government you see will have a US flag on a pole flying high.

Unusual and Interesting Photos
1. What is your reaction to his work?
My reaction to his work is that he is very unique and creative. His pictures have a very cool lighting which makes them old but new at the same time.
2. How do you think he made these photos?
I think he used a photo manipulation program such as Adobe Photoshop or Gimp.He took a picture of the building and tilted, flipped, ect to the photo.

Photo Manipulation and Ethics
Summary:The story talked about how many people have edited many photos so that it seems like somebody or something is doing something and that they are causing and have caused many problems. Also how many people lost their jobs doing this kind of photo editing which is unethical.
I think this type of photo editing is unethical especially if your releasing it so that it gets seen globally.I understand if you do it to make a funny picture of something and just showing your friends but not post it to the internet where it can create problems.

I think this type of photo editing is unethical especially if your releasing it so that it gets seen globally.I understand if you do it to make a funny picture of something and just showing your friends but not post it to the internet where it can create problems.

I think this was the most unethical photo because it gave many people the thought that they actually debated and that maybe something was going on.It could also draw thoughts to their minds about either of them on why they are debating.

I think this photo is the least unethical because it doesn't really physically hurt anyone. It might just draw you the fact that the pyramids are that close but you could always look up an actual picture.
National Geographic Warm-Up

I chose this photo because It shows how many people love what they do in their job. What surprises me is how the divers on top of the cage have no protection like the divers under them.Even the divers at the bottom are sticking their arms out and pocking their heads trying to see as much as they can.
I would take a photo from World War II showing what our soldiers had to go through almost every day to fight for others from other countries and for us in America.

Touching Strangers
1. What do you think about this project and photo essay? I think this project and photo essay is very odd and different but in a positive way. It makes people get out of their comfort zone.
2.
What would you do if someone approached you with a camera and asked you
to participate in a photo shoot and then asked you to touch a stranger? I would go ahead and do it but I would be very goofy and have fun with it.
3. Think of an unusual photo shoot similar to this one that you think would be fun to go and shoot.
Have a bunch of people bunched together where none of them know each other. They would all have odd faces as they would be very uncomfortable.
4. Finally, tell me what you thought of the photography, are the photos good? Do you like looking at them?I think some of the photos are pretty good while others are okay. I do like looking at some of them because some of the people's faces are funny.

What made you pick the photo? I picked this photo because it shows how us as human beings don't always just care about our selfs. The old monk is praying for the man that passed out in public waiting for a train.
Is there anything about the composition of the photo (this means how the photographer set the photo up in their view finder, NOT the content of the photo) that made your eyes gravitate to the photo? He didn't get to close so that you can see the people in the back.

Josef Koudelka
Josef Koudelka was born on January 10,1938 in Boskovice, Czechoslovakia. He began as a photographer taking pictures of his family and surroundings with a Bakelite camera. Between 1956 and 1961 he went to Czech Technical University and got his degree in Engineering in 1961.
In 1967 he decided to give up on engineering and be a full time photographer. In 1968he also witnessed and took photos of the military forces of the Warsaw Pack as they invaded Prague and destroyed Czech reforms. The Magnum Agency turned the pictures into the The Sunday Times Magazine under the initials P.P.
