Lenses and Photography Vocabulary

I would use a telephoto lens to take pictures at a football or nighttime soccer game.

I would use a prime lens to take pictures in an area of low light such as the Akins gym because this lens lets a lot more light in than others.

I would use a wide-angle lens to take pictures where I need to get something big in one picture. An example is when the marching band does their formations and we need one picture to fit all of them in.

Depth of Field (shallow and wide):amount of your picture before and after your focus point that will be in focus. It is determined by aperture, lens and subject distance.

Light (angle and intensity): Changing how much light enters will affect the angles the lens shoots out to get the picture.

Shadows:Dependent on the intensity and direction of light. The stronger and more pinpoint the light the more pronounced the shadow will be to the eye.

Diffusion:Scattered beam of light in a bunch of directions that is caused by sending light rays through a semi-translucent screen.

Exposure:Amount of total light allowed to pass through the image sensor of the camera.

Aperture (f-stop): Adjustable part of the camera that allows you to change how much light is passed through the sensor. The size of the aperture is measured by the F-Stop.

Shutter speed:amount of time the shutter is open

ISO:Measure of photographic's sensitivity to light. Matters when you are deciding if you want noise/grainy pictures. You also have to think if you want to make it seem if your subjects are moving or not.

My magazine cover

Magazine Covers

1.Early Magazine covers

Mothers Magazine,1844,This magazine talked about how the reader was the source of everything for their families. The cover has a simple but artistic illustration to "evoke the spirit of the publication".
 2.The Poster Cover
The Munsey,August,1898,It represents a painting of troops on horseback traveling to Cuba using realism. The cover only has two small lines at the bottom to explain what is happening as you can draw many conclusions from this picture.

3.Pictures Married to Type
Cosmopolitan,1985,the model on the picture is "boxed in" because of all the text boxes surrounding her to her left and right. She even seems a little uncomfortable even though in reality those text boxes aren't actually there. This type of cover began around the mid 1980's as before the picture of the person was usually surrounded with little to no text.
4.In the Forest of words
Guitar World,August 1992,This picture has its text almost coming out of the picture as the title of the magazine is the first thing that you see.You also see guitars so your brain automatically relates everything in this cover to guitar or guitar playing. The cover lines of this magazine are actually larger than the name of the magazine.

My Favorite Cover

 Favorite Cover

The editors’ description of the cover: "Official word of Steve Jobs' death reached Bloomberg Businessweek as the staff of over 40 was finishing a regular issue. They scrapped it and spent all night finalizing this special issue. In choosing a cover, editor Josh Tyrangiel said, ‘what we wanted to find was something that you hadn't seen before, something original, and yet something that had a little bit of tension in it.’ Tyrangiel concludes, ‘I think what we found and the way we cropped it really gets at the complicated, sometimes abrasive genius behind all the products that the world admires.’"

Critique:This cover of this magazine reaches out to a lot of people in a way that people will miss him and the products he would produce with his company,Apple. Many people have Apple products ranging from their iPhones to their expensive but eye catching Macbook laptops. The black and white adds to the effect of you feeling sad about him passing away.It also shows when he was born and when he died which would be the same year if people say this in 2011. Bloomberg Businessweek also did a great job in cropping out half his face which looks really good and you only need to see half of his face to know who he is anyways since he was a huge person in the world of computers and a person many people looked up to.

3.Don't judge the size of the cover on screen because your screen is the wrong size so you don't know
4.Make is efficient,fast and easy

The biggest thing i remember from my holiday is getting a new Macbook Pro as a present.

2. What are your resolutions for the 2013 year?
To keep making good grades and to start looking into what I want to study for in college.

3. What are you looking forward to in 2013? I'm looking forward to all the sneaker releases that are coming out this year.

2012 in Review

What was the best song of 2012?
I think the best song of 2012 in my opinion would be Mercy by Kanye West featuring Big Sean,2 Chainz, and Pusha T. This song had a very new sound that nobody really had,it also created a lot of buzz for GOOD Music's upcoming album Cruel Summer that came out later that year.

What was the best movie of 2012?
I think the best movie of 2012 was The Avengers. It combined all the superheros that had their own individual movie all into 1 where they fought against a villain.I really understood everything to because I had seen all the other movies that year and the years before.

What was the most important news story of the year?
The most important news story of the year were the Presidential Election.News channels had been talking about it since the summer all the way up until they announced Obama had won again.

What is the most important person of the year?
I think it was President Obama because that is what older people talk about, politics.Even people from outside of the U.S talk about who the U.S is or is going to be because it affects them.

What was the biggest Sports story of 2012?
I think the biggest sports story of 2012 was earlier in the year when Peyton Manning was going around talking to teams to see where he wanted to go to play football after his injury. When the news broke out that he signed with the Denver Broncos sports websites and channels talked about it for weeks.

Favorite Photos of 2012

This photo just seems funny to me because the Gangnam dance and music video were really popular on the internet and everywhere on the tv.

This photo is one that people don't want to remember about but can be used for later generations in preparing for future hurricanes in our country.

I chose this picture because it seemed very cool to me that somebody had jumped out of space with just a parachute to save his life.
