  1. What is your favorite headline from that newspaper? Why are you interested in it? Video Provides clues to bomber.I am interested because I want to know who would put the bombs in Boston and because it is recent news.
  2. How many stories are on the front page of your favorite? A little over 30 stories.
  3. What do you notice that all newspaper front pages have in common? Look at design, size of photos, size of story text, etc. They all have very similar layouts and usually the size of the fonts are about the same.
  4. What are things that vary (or are different) on the front pages of different newspapers? Look at design, size of photos, size of headlines, etc. The sizes of some of the headlines are bigger or smaller depending on how important they are or how crazy the story is.

Lenses and Photography Vocabulary

I would use a telephoto lens to take pictures at a football or nighttime soccer game.

I would use a prime lens to take pictures in an area of low light such as the Akins gym because this lens lets a lot more light in than others.

I would use a wide-angle lens to take pictures where I need to get something big in one picture. An example is when the marching band does their formations and we need one picture to fit all of them in.

Depth of Field (shallow and wide):amount of your picture before and after your focus point that will be in focus. It is determined by aperture, lens and subject distance.

Light (angle and intensity): Changing how much light enters will affect the angles the lens shoots out to get the picture.

Shadows:Dependent on the intensity and direction of light. The stronger and more pinpoint the light the more pronounced the shadow will be to the eye.

Diffusion:Scattered beam of light in a bunch of directions that is caused by sending light rays through a semi-translucent screen.

Exposure:Amount of total light allowed to pass through the image sensor of the camera.

Aperture (f-stop): Adjustable part of the camera that allows you to change how much light is passed through the sensor. The size of the aperture is measured by the F-Stop.

Shutter speed:amount of time the shutter is open

ISO:Measure of photographic's sensitivity to light. Matters when you are deciding if you want noise/grainy pictures. You also have to think if you want to make it seem if your subjects are moving or not.
